Why you can rely on it

Your documents stay confidential

Commercial documents are sensitive. The checker is designed to keep as little as possible.

  • Without an account, files automatically deleted within 48 hours
  • Private storage, no document is ever made public
  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS), database hosted in the European Union
  • The check sends nothing to customs or to third parties

What we do not do

  • We do not lodge the declaration for you.
  • We do not validate your tariff classification: we check the code's format and consistency.
  • This check helps you prepare your file. It is not a validation by the customs authorities and does not replace the regulatory obligations that apply to your operation.

Three ways to check a file before the declaration. Customs Check does not replace a customs broker: it helps you hand them a complete file.

Latest rule updates

  1. The parties of each file (operator, client, foreign partner, seller, consignee) are now screened against the EU, UN, UK and US sanctions lists, updated every day, and export lines are checked against the EU export bans for their destination. New free sanctions screening tool.

  2. The exporter's REX number is checked in the Commission's database as soon as a tariff preference is claimed: a revoked or unknown number blocks the preference, and a missing one is flagged above €6,000 of GSP goods. New free REX number checker.

  3. The checker now compares the codes of imports into the EU with the TARIC measures in force for their origin: anti-dumping, import prohibitions and controls, preferences and quotas, and the duty rate entered. Source: European Commission TARIC, updated every month.

  4. The checker now reuses the tools: amounts converted at the ECB customs rate of the month (30 currencies), full analysis of EORI numbers, and goods covered by CBAM flagged, with a warning above 50 t.

Frequently asked questions

Is the check really free?

Yes. The customs file check, the score out of 100, the list of fixes and the PDF report are free, with no account and no credit card. Without an account, the check tools (HS code, EORI, VAT…) are limited to 3 uses a day; a free account removes the limit and keeps your checks.

Does the result count as customs approval?

No. The Customs Check result helps you prepare your file; it is not a validation by the customs authorities. The score flags missing information, inconsistencies and missing documents before the declaration. The declaration you file remains subject to customs controls, and the declarant remains responsible for the obligations that apply to the operation.

Is my declaration sent to customs?

No. Customs Check sends nothing to customs: the tool is not connected to any clearance system such as DELTA, CDS or AES. It checks your file before you, or your customs broker, prepare and file the declaration. The data you enter is shared only with the service providers listed in the privacy policy.

Does the tool check my HS code?

Yes for the format, existence and measures, no for the classification. Customs Check checks the form of the code (6-digit HS, 8-digit CN, 10-digit TARIC) and that it exists in the nomenclature in force. For imports into the EU, an 8- or 10-digit code is also matched against TARIC for the declared origin: unknown subheading, anti-dumping, prohibitions, preferences, duty rate. It never confirms that a tariff classification is correct: an existing code is still flagged “to review”. If in doubt, apply for a Binding Tariff Information (BTI) decision.

What happens to my documents and data?

Files uploaded to Customs Check are stored privately. Without an account, they expire after 24 hours and are deleted within 48 hours at the latest; with an account, they stay attached to your checks until you delete them. The content of an anonymous check is erased after 72 hours. Only anonymous statistics are kept: type of check, score and types of errors. Connections are encrypted and the database is hosted in the European Union.

Which types of files can I check?

Customs Check checks a simple import/export file and seven types of declarations: DELTA IE (France), IDMS, AES and AIS (Belgium, Ireland), CDS (United Kingdom), DMS (Netherlands), H7 for low-value e-commerce, EMEBI for intra-EU trade in goods and ENS for ICS2 safety and security. Each type applies its own mandatory fields and its own rules.

Do I need to create an account?

No. The score, the list of blocking issues and the recommended actions are shown without signing up. The Customs Check account is free and optional: it saves your checks so you can run them again after a fix, stores your clients, products and documents, removes the daily limit on the check tools and gives you a free API key.
